Great for eating raw or cooking, these onions add lots of flavour to many savoury dishes. They can grow to 10cm wide or be harvested and used before they reach full size if desired, including for their green tops. A very versatile onion that’s easy to grow and adaptable.

This is the market standard yellow storage onion in the USA for the past century. Grows best in fertile, well-drained soil in full sun. Mulching well will help your garden to conserve water and encourage it to crop strongly.
Plants are low maintenance and prefer cooler temperatures when young. Thinning is important to allow adequate space for full sized onion bulbs to grow.
Onion is technically a biennial but is typically grown as an annual for it’s crisp, fresh bulbs.
